HEAVY METALS

Childhood vacations at my father’s birthplace. The off-limit, rough, dangerous, fascinating world of “Hephaestus”, the engineering workshop of my uncle.  Scared and attracted at the same time by the pandemonium of the roaring machines, the welding sparks, the rhythmic hammering on iron.

Carefree summers smelling of grease, tar, machine oil and rust.

My scavenged memories bind together with screws, nuts and bolts on the weathered surfaces of the Heavy Metals series.
